Printmaking Project:
Description: For this project, we were assigned different ecosystems from around the world, and I assigned myself the ocean. I gave students a small piece of paper, on which they drew what they wanted that represented their ecosystem and they had to have one living creature in the drawing. When they were done with their drawings, I gave the students a piece of foam which they placed their drawing on top of, and traced their drawing onto the foam. After the students traced their drawings onto the foam and their lines were deep enough for paint, I gave them paint so they could roll a roller into the paint and then place it on the foam. Finally, with the pain on the foam, I told the students that they would take their foam and place its paint side down on a larger piece of paper where their drawing would transfer onto that piece of paper.
Extension Activity: I would have students learn about the different Continents and which animal based on their printmaking would fit best in a certain environment within the Continent. The students will identify the Continent, describe the environment, and how their animal will fit best into that specific area.
